Please join us on Tuesday, May 28th at 7:30pm in The Adobe Room at The Lumberyard for a screening of one of Agnes Varda's best known films, Vagabond (1985, 105 minutes).

Carolyn Pfeiffer wrote in Thursdays' Big Bend Sentinel:

"Director/writer Agnes Vards was a trailblazer. 'The mother of French New Wave Cinema,' Varda was revered and respected by film lovers everywhere. As a young filmmaker, she worked in the era of Jean Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut, Louis Malle and her husband Jacques Demme. Still working after many decades, Varda died this year at the age of 90."

Criterion Collection writes of the film:

"Sandrine Bonnaire won the Best Actress Cesar for her portrayal of the defiant young drifter Mona, found frozen to death in a ditch at the beginning of 'Vagabond.' Agnes Varda pieces together Mona's story through flashbacks told by those who encountered her, producing a splintered portrait of an enigmatic woman. With its sparse, poetic imagery, 'Vagabond' is a stunner and won Varda the top prize at the Venice Film Festival."
